Boost your Metabolism

Improving your metabolism is far better than only going on a diet. It’s not an easy task to do, but it is possible. Always bear in mind that moderation is the key in everything!

Here are few tips to speed up your metabolism:

Cardiovascular exercise: CV training keeps your metabolic rate up. However, don’t stay on a steady pace! Instead go for interval training or High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) like walking for 2 minutes then running for 1 minute for a cycle of 20-30 minutes.

Resistance training: helps you to build more muscle making the body burn more calories due to the added muscle mass.

Healthy fats: Make sure to eat healthy fats and omega 3 fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA). By consuming these, you will increase your metabolism but remember that they are also very high in calories. Examples of healthy fats include avocado, seeds and nuts, as well as fatty fish like salmon. Conjugeted Linoleic acid   (CLA) is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that can help increase strength, reduce appetite and cause beneficial changes in the body composition. You can find CLA in whole milk or cheese, beef and  butter.

Protein: Eat protein rich foods. The body does extra work to process proteins which will help improve your metabolism. You get it from lean meat, fish, chicken and pork sources, eggs and low fat dairy products. Go lean to reduce the calories.

Hot and spicy foods: These can increase the body’s ability to burn fat faster. Try adding spicy pepper to your food like chili pepper and jalapenos.

Apples, cherries and high fiber foods: they are full of vitamins and high in fiber, which will make you full for a longer period of time. Remember not to peel your fruit!

Green Tea: it is rich in antioxidant and helps in burning the fat , boosting the metabolism and many other beneficial effects

But always remember, moderation is the key in everything!!!
